One of my favorite things we did at CHIC was on the third morning when we had a service to raise money for kids in Africa. I don’t remember how much we raised but it was quite a bit and over the course of a few days we packed meals for these kids as well. I felt like it was good experience to awaken kids my age to the world around us and give us a chance to make a difference.
My favorite seminar was the one I went to the very last day. It was led by the producer of X-MEN and he talked about storytelling and how maybe Christians need to vary their ways of reaching out to people.
I liked all the speakers and I felt they each had something very good to say, but I think one of my favorite things about CHIC was how the speakers talked about us and the future. I feel like often people focus on the bad things and have a bad attitude towards today’s teens. At CHIC I felt like the attitude was more we think that you are the generation that will make many changes for the better in our world.
CHIC was a good experience and for those reading this that are younger, when the opportunity comes for you to go to CHIC I highly recommend you take it because even if it does nothing else, it will give you a chance to be around thousands of kids who have very similar religious beliefs as you do. Standing in that arena with thousands of other high school students that very first night and knowing that they had all come from Covenant Churches around the country was a very cool feeling.
