Where can I find the counselor and staff orientation and training?

How do I get to CHIC?
You are responsible to make your own transportation plans to and from CHIC, but keep in mind the following: your conference may have plans for travel that you can tap into; shuttles are available from various airports; and early arrival on Saturday, July 11 is also available for an additional fee.
Who should checks be made payable to?
Individuals should make their checks payable to the local church when they hand in their individual registration forms. Churches should send in all the individual registrations along with the group registration form with a single church check payable to “The University of Tennessee.”
Can the $500 per registering church be divided among students and/or adults?
Yes. The $500 is simply deducted from your group’s total on the Group Registration Form. It is up to each church to decide how that discount should be applied.
How can I be part of the prayer team?
You must register as a staff person. On the second page of the adult application you will mark “yes” to the question: “Have you already been recruited by CHIC staff to volunteer in a non-counselor position?”
Answer “prayer team” for the question: “What position?”
And answer “Steve Burger” for the question: “By whom?”
All prayer team members are required to meet the staff qualifications and fulfill the staff requirements listed on the adult application instruction sheet. The cost to attend CHIC is $499.00 due by May 8th 2009. This includes housing and your meals while you are on site.
If you have further questions please contact Steve Burger at steve.burger@covchurch.org or feel free to call him at the office at 773-583-0220.
Can I hold a spot for an adult or a student and then give a name later?
Yes, you can hold a spot for both students and adults but you’ll have to follow the steps below to make the process work smoothly. Remember, too, that deposits are non-refundable, and pay close attention to the cancellation and substitution policies.
  1. On your group registration form include this person in your count and in the amount that you are submitting.
  2. On the side of the group registration form where you are asked to list the names of those you are registering, fill in, “Adult (or Student) – name coming later.”
  3. Also include a cover letter explaining that you are holding a spot and paying for them now, and will be providing the name later.
  4. When you finally do add the name for this person make sure you include a cover letter explaining that the name you are now providing is taking the place that you had reserved earlier.
How do I register for excursions?
The University of Tennessee will mail Excursion Registration information AFTER you send in your CHIC registration forms.
If my church is not going to CHIC, can we gift our scholarship to another church of our choice?

What’s with the “Undone” theme?
It is an interesting thing to come in contact with the divine, for God does seem to undo the things that we have spent so much of our lives doing. The brilliant thing about that encounter is that after God has undone our work we are empowered to do all the undone work of the Kingdom.
